- Warren Buffett is known as the greatest investor in the world. He is also the 5th richest man. Not only this, but he is also known for giving incredible advice relating to life, business & success. One of the key tips there Buffett used to achieve the success that he has achieved as a rule for the 5/25 rule.
The Story
- This is how the story begins. A few years ago before an airplane takeoff, Buffett strolled up to the pilot of his private jet. His name was Mike. He jokingly said the fact that you are still working for me, tells me I’m not doing my job. You should be out, going after more of your goals & dreams. Mike asked what do you mean? Buffett said to Mike,
- Write down your top 25 goals that you want to achieve in your lifetime.
- Draw a circle around your top 5, most important goals
- Buffett said, everything you didn’t circle just became you’re avoid at all cost list. No matter what these things get no attention from you till you’ve succeeded with your top 5.
The Focus
- What is Buffett getting at when the story is told? He is talking about one key idea, Focus. How many doctors do you know that are also lawyers & YouTubers on the side? Not many. It is because they chose to focus on just one profession & master the art of medicine.
- When it comes to business, investing & entrepreneurship we all think that we can master many side projects. But that is not what Buffett is saying, you have to focus on one thing.
- When Bill Gates first met Warren Buffett, their host at dinner, Gate’s mother asked everyone around the table to identify what they believed was the single most important factor in their success in life. Gates & Buffett gave the same one-word answer: Focus.
“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life. Think of it, dream of it. Live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves every part of your body be full of that idea & just leave other ideas alone. That is the way to success.”
